STEVE BLUNT & MARTY KELLEY
A library show that celebrates reading with sing-along, read-aloud, laugh-a-lot fun for all ages!
Steve Blunt & Marty Kelley perform a highly entertaining mix of songs that promote reading and other family-friendly themes, including selections from Steve’s repertoire of award-winning children’s music. To add to the fun, author Marty Kelley reads from some of his hilarious kids’ books: Summer Stinks, Fall is Not Easy, The Rules, and others—with illustrations projected onto the big screen for all to see. A highlight of the show is Marty’s wild & crazy drawing demonstration—with a young volunteer from the audience—while Steve provides impromptu musical accompaniment.
Cost is $450 plus travel. Special rates for block bookings.

“Make a Splash and Read” appears on the CD “Let’s Have a Reading Party!” by children’s musician Steve Blunt and author/illustrator Marty Kelley. This CD is perfect for libraries and booklovers of all ages. It contains 16 songs and stories that make reading rock—with a party mix of reading themes and musical styles from Catch the Reading Bug to Reading Road Trip USA!
Five of Kelley’s children’s books appear in spoken word “read-along” form, including The Rules, Fall is Not Easy, Summer Stinks and others. Be warned: The super-cool punk rock version of “Summer Stinks” will turn storytime into a toddler mosh pit before you can say A,B,C!

MAKE A SPLASH AND READ
(Words & Music © S. Blunt & M. Kelley, 2009)
I went to the library,
My pet goldfish came with me.
I said, “Hey there, chum, if you take a look,
You’ll get hooked by a really good book!”
But my little fish had never been
To the library, so I reeled him in.
I said, “All kinds of books, libraries carry ‘em,
They’re fun to visit, just like the aquarium.”
CHORUS
Splish-splash, little fish, come with me,
Let’s make a spash at the library!
Splish-splash, little fish, yes indeed,
Let’s make a splash and read!
So we dove in for a look around,
What a catch of books we found:
Books about starfish, sharks, and whales,
Octopus, eels, and fishy tales...
Like The Rainbow Fish and Moby Dick,
The Little Mermaid’s quite a pick,
One Fish Two Fish, Red Fish Blue Fish is our fave...
What a great big title wave!
CHORUS
Splish-splash, little fish, come with me,
Let’s make a spash at the library!
Splish-splash, little fish, yes indeed,
Let’s make a splash and read!
My fish became a cultured reader,
Not just any old bottom feeder.
Now he is a literary critic, he
Sometimes can be rather finicky.
So if you’re feelin’ kinda stuck
In a goldfish bowl, well you’re in luck,
‘Cause it’s like swimmin’ in the sea,
When you make a splash at the library!
CHORUS
Splish-splash, little fish, come with me,
Let’s make a spash at the library!
Splish-splash, little fish, yes indeed,
Let’s make a splash and read!
